JEE Main 10th April 2023 (Shift 1 & 2) Question Paper Analysis
Day 3 of JEE Main 2023 Session 2 occurred today, on the 10th of April 2023. Thousands of aspirants pursuing BE/BTech appeared for the JEE Main exam. The first shift started at 9:00 am and ended at 12:00 pm. The second shift was conducted from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm.
For both shifts of the exam, the question paper comprised 90 questions each. Per the marking scheme, each correct answer will be given 4 marks, while 1 mark will be deducted for every wrong answer. No marks will be deducted for unanswered questions. The full marks for each subject are 100, so the total marks for JEE Main paper are 300.
The official JEE Main 2023 Session 2 Answer Key will be released after the exam ends.

1st Shift, 10th April 2023: Major Highlights
JEE candidates who appeared for the 10th April Shift 1 exam summarised the question paper as follows:
- Overall, the paper was moderately difficult, similar to Session 1.
- Physics was mostly formula-based but was well-balanced and easy to score.
- Math was quite lengthy and moderately difficult.
- The NAT section for all three subjects was lengthy.

The paper was lengthy, much like the previous sessions. Questions with mixed concepts were asked. The numerical section was lengthy but easy. The paper had questions from JEE Main specific topics like Mathematical Reasoning and Statistics. The questions came from all chapters, but most were from algebra and coordinate geometry. The paper focused on the following topics: |
Mostly, NCERT-based questions were given. The class 12 syllabus dominated the paper. The paper contained more questions from Inorganic Chemistry. Organic and Inorganic Chemistry enjoyed more weightage than Physical Chemistry. Organic Chemistry had questions about Amines, Alcohols, and Phenols, which were easy. There were a few NCERT-based questions from Polymers and Environmental Chemistry. These topics enjoyed more weightage:

The paper had equal amounts of questions from class 11 and 12 syllabi. Questions from Mechanics based on the Class 11 syllabus. A few assertion reasoning questions were asked. MCQs were easy. The paper contained several theory-based questions too. The following topics were given more weightage:

Overall: Chemistry and Physics were comparatively easier than the previous exams of this session. The NAT section was lengthy. All three subjects had questions from JEE-specific topics as well as the NCERT curriculum.
2nd shift, 10th April 2023: Major Highlights
- Overall, the paper was moderately difficult and tougher than the Session 1 exam.
- Physics was tougher than shift 1.
- Maths was lengthy like previous exams.
- Chemistry was the easiest to attempt out of the three subjects.
- A majority of questions in Chemistry were from NCERT.

The paper was lengthy and quite time-consuming. Long calculations were required for both MCQs and Numerical Based questions. These sections were also difficult. Conic Sections and Calculus chapters were given weightage. The following topics were also given weightage:

Physical and Inorganic chemistry enjoyed more weightage in this paper. Organic Chemistry had questions related to Amines, Aldehydes & Ketones, Polymers, Alcohols, Ethers & Phenols, and Aryl & Alkyl Halides. Inorganic Chemistry received questions from p-Block and d-Block, as well as Ores and Metallurgy. These topics were in focus:

Mostly theoretical questions were asked along with easy numerical questions. Chapters from class 12 gained more focus. Assertion-reasoning questions had mixed concepts. The following topics had more weightage:

Overall: Maths was much lengthier. The other two subjects were moderately difficult. NCERT was in focus for all three.
