JEE Main 15th April 2023 (Shift 1 & 2) Question Paper Analysis

At 6 PM today, the JEE Main 2023 Session 2 was concluded. The first shift was conducted earlier, between 9 AM to 12 PM. Both shifts were 3 hours long. Aspirants for a career in BE/BTech appeared for the exam in large numbers to secure admission into prestigious institutes such as IITs, NITs, and CFTIs.

The question paper consisted of 90 questions, and the full mark for the paper was 300. According to the marking scheme, every correct answer will get 4 marks, and 1 mark will be deducted for every incorrect response. No marks will be awarded or deducted for unanswered questions.

1st Shift, 15th April 2023: Major Highlights

JEE candidates who appeared for the 15th April Shift 1 exam summarised the question paper as follows:

  • This JEE paper was moderately difficult, well-balanced and doable within the time frame, just like the previous session.
  • Several questions in Maths were from JEE-specific topics.
  • The Physics section was the easiest of all.

Overall: Certain questions were lengthy, but overall the paper was easy. It could easily be managed by a student who had thoroughly prepared the syllabus from NCERT books.

  • The paper was moderately difficult.
  • It contained several NCERT-based questions.
  • Students found Physics and Chemistry sections simpler to tackle than the Mathematics section.

Overall: A comprehensive study of the NCERT books and practice through mock tests guarantee success in today’s paper. Though class XII topics were on the higher side of the paper, the students found the paper moderately challenging.
