JEE Main 24th January to 1st February 2024 Question Paper Analysis

ShareThe JEE Main 2024 Session 1 exam began on 24th January and reached its final day on 1st February 2024. The exam was conducted each day in two shifts. While the first shift was from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm, the second shift was held from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Candidates aspiring for BE/BTech appeared for JEE Main Paper 1, and those for BArch admissions appeared for Paper 2.
Question papers for Paper 1 consisted of 90 questions each and were divided into three sections: Physics, Chemistry, and Maths. As per NTA guidelines, students had 90 minutes to complete the exam. Overall, the paper carried 300 marks.
Paper 2 question paper comprised three sections as well: Maths, Aptitude Test, and Drawing Test. Students must answer 20 MCQs and 5 out of 10 NAT questions in the Maths section. This section holds 100 marks. The drawing section had two questions for 100 marks, while the aptitude section had 50 questions for 200 marks. Overall, the paper carried 400 marks.
The evaluation will be as per the following marking scheme:
- Every correct answer: +4 marks
- Every incorrect answer: -1 mark
- Unattempted question: 0 marks

DAY 1: JEE Main 24 January 2024 Question Paper Analysis
The National Testing Agency (NTA) successfully conducted the Paper 2 exam on January 24, 2024 for B.Arch/B. Planning in two shifts.
1st Shift, 24 January 2024: Major Highlights
Overall, the JEE Main B.Arch paper was moderately difficult. Students who appeared for the exam seemed satisfied and shared positive feedback.

The reactions recorded for the shift 2 exam were mixed. Candidates who had strategically prepared for the exam were able to do well. However, in experts' opinion, it was the most difficult of all the papers in session 1.

DAY 2: JEE Main 27 January 2024 Question Paper Analysis

1st Shift, 27 January 2024: Major Highlights

Overall, the JEE Main paper was slightly difficult. Chemistry was NCERT-based, with a high weightage for Organic and Inorganic Chemistry, and Physical Chemistry had a lower weightage. Physics was based on direct formulas, and Mathematics was the most difficult section.

Overall, the JEE Main paper was moderate in difficulty level. Mathematics was moderately difficult, with emphasis on Calculus & Algebra, Coordinate Geometry, and Numerical Sections. Physics was moderately difficult, with XII Class chapters gaining higher weightage. Chemistry was reported to be easy and NCERT-based with a focus on Organic Chemistry.

The NTA organised the JEE Main Paper 1 exam on 31 January 2024 for B.E/ B.Tech in two shifts.

Overall, the JEE Main paper’s difficulty level was moderate. Students found the Mathematics section challenging and lengthy, Physics moderately difficult with questions from the 12th class syllabus, and Chemistry primarily theoretical, with most questions from the 12th class syllabus.

Overall, the difficulty level of the JEE Main paper was moderate. According to a good number of students, the Physics part was of easy to moderate level.
