The unexpected emergence of COVID-19 and the sudden nation-wide lockdown was definitely not something that any of us expected at the beginning of the year. The entire nation came to a halt because of the virus, including the very important CBSE board exams.

After the first phase of lockdown was announced, it was speculated that the fresh exam dates would be available post 14^th April 2020. However, the rising number of COVID-19 cases forced the government to extend the lockdown till 3^rd May 2020 and delay the CBSE board exam further. Ever since the exam date got pushed by over a month, speculations and rumors regarding the cancellation of the exam started going around. These rumors started to grow even stronger when certain state boards called off the remaining 10^th and 12^th exam.

However, the CBSE board officials stepped in and put an end to all the rumors by releasing this official statement, "The discussions are still going on regarding the make decision on pending board examinations and a proper announcement on dates will be made only after analysing the situation after May 3.”

The CBSE board had already informed in an earlier statement that they would conduct exams only for a selected few papers and wouldn’t prolong the exam for too long. They would only consider papers that are important for the students in the long run and college admission.

This sense of uncertainty looms over all of us as we collectively fight to stop the spread of Coronavirus. In these testing times we must only believe in news only from credible sources and not listen to any hearsay.
