how is the movement of electrons in ac will you illustrate with an example in an microscopic how do find electrons to follow?

In ac current there is no net flow of electrons.
In reallity, if you actually see the conduction phenomenon, the electro ns never flow, they just transferr the energy from one atom to another while vibrating like a harmonc oscillator.
In case of ac potential, the derection of electric field in a conductor keep changing its direction. SO if we find the net average of the displacement produced in the electron's movement it will come out to be zero.
Thus there is ony instantaneous current.
But we only talk about root mean square value of current instead of average current.
