The required no-load ratio in a 1 -phase 50 Hz core type transformer is 6000/250 V. Find the no. of turns in each winding if the flux is to be about 0.06 wbs.

Transformer equations for primary voltage Vp and secondary voltage Vs are given as

Vp = 4.44 × Np × f × Φ

Vs = 4.44 × Ns × f × Φ

Where Np and Ns are number of primary and secondary windings , f is frequency and Φ is magnetic flux

Np = Vp / ( 4.44 × f × Φ ) = 6000 / ( 4.44 × 50 × 0.06 ) = 450 turns

Ns = Vs / ( 4.44 × f × Φ ) = 250 / ( 4.44 × 50 × 0.06 ) =  19 turns
