Choke coil is inductor coil. Inductor coil is made by winding conducting wire on a magnetic material .
An inductor has the functions of developing electromotive force in the direction that reduces fluctuation
when a fluctuating current flows. In inductor electric energy is stored as magnetic energy.
It has the characteristic of allowing DC current to flow easily while presenting high resistance against the fluctuating currents.
The name ' choke ' is used becuase of the characterstics of high resistance against fluctuating current .
Typical application of choke coil or inductor coil is to give stabilized DC voltage to discharge lamps
like domestic tube lights from the input AC voltage.
