Expert Answer
Suppose that a particle is executing simple harmonic motion of amplitude A. When the particle is initially at the mean position, its displacement at any time t is given by: x = A sin ωt
On the other hand if the particle is initially at extreme position, its displacement at any time t is given by: x = A cos ωt
So depending upon the initial position of the particle, appropriate equation has to be used.
