The points M(3,4), N(-1,1),P(5,-1) are the vertices of triangle .Find the equation of the altitude of the triangle MNP drawn from point N.

Line passing through points (x1 , y1 ) and (x2 , y2) is given by,
Hence line passing through M(3,4) and P(5,-1) is, .......................(1)
By simplifying the above eqn.(1), we get the equation of line passing through M and P is 5x+2y = 23
Hence Equation of the line perpendicular to line segment MP is, 2x-5y = k .........................(2)
Since this perpendicular line passes through N(-1, 1) , we get, k = 2(-1)-5(1) = -7
Hence equation of altitude is 2x-5y = -7
