# Find the equation of the line passing through (5, 4) and perpendicular to the line through the points (3, 7) and (- 4, 8).

Asked by Topperlearning User 28th September 2017, 10:58 AM

Slope of line joining the points (3, 7) and (- 4, 8) =

Slope of line which is perpendicular to the line joining the points (3, 7) and (- 4, 8) = 7.

Equation of line passing through (5, 4) and with slope 7 is
y - 4 = 7 (x - 5)

y - 4 = 7x - 35

7x - y - 31 = 0.
