CBSE Class 11-science Answered
Angular momentum is momentum in body when it is in circular motion, but here the particle is in the boundary of a square .Why we are using angular momentum here?

Expert Answer
It is true that the particle is moving along the surface of the square.
However, the question mentions angular momentum about the origin.
If we consider different positions of the particle along the surface then the angle subtended by the
particle about the origin keeps on changing, and hence, there is angular momentum. Here, it does not matter if it is along the square. Circle is just a standard case.
The angular position is changing so angular momentum is to be considered.
