A decorated cloth hanger is in the form of a cylinder having cones at both ends. The common radius is 2m. The height of the cone at one end is 1m and that at the other end is 1.5m. Total height of the hanger is 5.5 m. Find the area of the cloth required to make the hanger.

length of cylinderical part of hanger = 5.5 - 1 - 1.5 = 3 m
 
Surface area of cylinderical part = π×r2 ×L = π×22 ×3 = 12π sq.m
 
surface area of conical part of height 1 m = begin mathsize 12px style straight pi cross times straight r squared cross times square root of straight r squared plus straight h squared end root space equals space straight pi cross times 2 squared cross times square root of 2 squared plus 1 squared space end root space equals space 4 square root of 5 space straight pi space sq. straight m end style
surface area of conical part of height 1.5 m = begin mathsize 12px style straight pi cross times straight r squared cross times square root of straight r squared plus straight h squared end root space equals space straight pi cross times 2 squared cross times square root of 2 squared plus 1.5 squared space end root space equals space 10 straight pi space sq. straight m end style
Cloth area = total surface area = (12+4√5 +10)π sq.m ≈ 97 sq.m
