what is the relation between surface tension,cohesion and adhesive forces?(how are they all related to each other)

The surface tension of a liquid results from the strong tendency of water molecules to attract one another, called cohesion. The shape of meniscus (concave and convex) depends on the relative strength of force of cohesion
of liquid and the force of adhesion between liquid and the solid in contact.
