Charge is a property associated with matter due to which it produces and experiences electrical and magnetic effects.
The body is said to be electrically charged in either of the conditions as given below: -
i) Loss of electrons - (np > ne) np - number of protons and ne - number of electrons
In this case, the body carries positive charge.
ii) Gain of electrons - ( ne > np)
In this case, the body carries negative charge.
