Expert Answer
Let height of tower be h.
All quantities in the downward direction are assumed to be negative, and in the upward direction are positive.
The stone rises from the top of the tower, reaches a maximum height and then falls back again. So the distance through which it actually falls is -h.
u = 5m/s ; t = 5s; s =-h;
s=ut +1/2at^2
-h = 5t + 1/2(10)t^2
-h = 5(5) + 1/2(10)5^2
-h =25 +125 = 150
height of the tower is 150m
