We can use Newton's Law of Universal Gravitation to calculate the mass of a planet or star like the Earth. According to this law, the gravitational attraction between two objects depends on the product of their masses divided by the square of the distance between their centers of mass.
It is possible to determine the mass of a planet or other celestial object by observing its moons or other objects in orbit around it. Scientists can use the laws of gravity to calculate the mass of a planet by studying the orbits of these objects.
