Find the ratio of the areas of two triangles formed by the lines representing these equations with the x-axis and the lines with the y-axis ? 2x+y=6,2x-y=-2

We draw the graphs of the given set of equations.

 These lines along with the x and y axes form triangles AOB and COD respectively.

Area of  triangle AOB = 1/2 X OA X OB = 1/2 X 3 X 6 = 9 sq.units

Area of  triangle COD = 1/2 X OC X OD = 1/2 X 1 X 2 = 1 sq. unit

hence the required ratio is 9 : 1.
