A wheel is rotating at a rate of 1000rpm and its kinetic energy is 10^6 J. Determine the moment of inertia of the wheel about its axis of rotation.

Expert Answer
The Angular velocity of the body is given by
?=2?x1000/60 per second
= 100?/3 per second
KE = I?2/2 = 106
So I =2x106/?2
I = 3x3x2x106/104?2 = 1800/?2 = 181.96 Js2
