(i) The equation of the line passing through the points P (?1, 4) and Q (5, ?2) is given by,
y ? 4 = (4 + 2) / (? 1 ? 5) (x + 1)
y ? 4 = ?1 (x + 1)
y ? 4 = ? x ? 1
? x + y ? 3 = 0
y ? 4 = (4 + 2) / (? 1 ? 5) (x + 1)
y ? 4 = ?1 (x + 1)
y ? 4 = ? x ? 1
? x + y ? 3 = 0
(ii) Co-ordinates of A (where line cuts x-axis) are (3, 0).
Co-ordinates of B (where line cuts y-axis) are (0, 3).
(iii) Co-ordinates of M = (3 + 0 / 2, 0 + 3 / 2) = (3/2, 3/2) [Using Midpoint formula]
