A person moves 30 m north, then 20 m east then 30 root2 m south west. His displacement from the origin position is
[ans-10 m west]

For the solutions which involves movement at a particular direction, there are some assumptions which are required to be understood.
  1. Whenever there is a change in direction like North/South to East/West, the angle made due to the change in path is 90o .
  2. When there is a change in direction of the path like East to Southwest or West to Northeast,the angle made due to the change in path is 45o . 

Now solving the path made due to change in direction using the geometry of the path and applying laws of vectors on it we come to the following solution.
