CBSE Class 10 Answered
A given length of a wire is doubled of itself and this process is repeated once again.By what factor does the resistance of the wire changes?

Let L be initial length of wire . If the length is doubled , then new length is 2L .
If length is doubled again , then new length becomes 4L .
Resistance of wire is proportional to length of wire.
Hence , if area of cross section of wire is constant , then if length becomes 4 times of its initial length ,
then resistance also changes by 4 times of its initial value
