Both answers given are not correct. It seems initial temperature added twice.
 
First problem:  (1/2)mv2 = mgh = mCpΔT  ,  Hence ΔT = gh/Cp = (10×1200)/400 = 30°C ; 
                                    final temperature = 12+30 = 42°C
 
2nd problem : (1/2)mv2 = mgh = mCpΔT  ,  Hence ΔT = gh/Cp = (10×1500)/4200 = 3.57°C ;
                                         final temperature = 20+3.57°C = 23.57°C
