1000 Newton force is applied for 5 second on a body of mass 10 kg kept at rest.Find the change of momentum and distance travelled by the body during that time.

F =1000 N
t = 5 s
m = 10 kg

F = m x a
a = F/m = 1000/10 = 100 m/s2

Change in momentum = Force x time = 1000 x 5 = 5000 Ns
Distance travelled by object during that time can be calculated using,

s = ut + 1/2 (at2) = (0) x (1/2) x 100 x (5)2 = 1250 m

Thus, change in momentum = 5000 Ns
and distance travelled during that time  will be = 1250 m
