A rod of 3m is acted by two forces shown below calculate
1) net force
2) total moment of force

Let us assume that force in upward direction is positive and downward direction is negative.
Net force Fnet = 5N - 5N = 0 N
Moment of force = Force × distance × sinθ
where distance is measured from the pivot point to the point of application of force and
θ is angle between direction of force and lever arm.
Let us take moment about the mid point of the given rod .
Net moment of force M = ( 5 × 1.5 × sin90 ) + ( 5 × 1.5 × sin90 ) = 15 N m
