 Centripetal force Centrifugal force Centripetal force is the force or component of force acting on an object when the object is in curvilinear motion. Centripetal force is directed towards the centre of curvature of curved path. Centrifugal force is a pseudo force acting on an object in a circular motion. Centrifugal force acts along the radial direction away from centre. Centripetal force is observed by observer who is not in contact with object Centrifugal force is observed by observer when he himself is travelling in curved path. When a car is moving in a curved path , a force directed towards center of curvature , i.e. centripetal force will maintain the circular  motion along the curved path . This force can be either friction force between tyres and ground  or component of normal force due to banking of road. When a car is moving in a curved path, passenger experience an outward push . This is due to centrifugal force acting on passenegers.
