Explain Pulley

Expert Answer
Pulley consists of a solid disc with a grooved rim. A string is passed around the groove at the rim. The disc rotates about an axle passing through its centre. The axle is fixed rigidly to a frame by means of nails.
It is a type of simple machine which can be used in either of two ways.
- Change the magnitude of the force.
- Changing the direction of the force.
