What are mechanical waves

If the objects vibrate in a gaseous medium , it creates pressure fluctuations near by region and this pressure fluctuation propagates in the gaseous medium .
If the objects vibrate in a liquid medium , energy is transfered to nearby liquid molecules and vibrate. These vibration propagates in liquid medium .
Similar things happens in solid medium also .
These propagation of vibration is in the form of waves , hence these waves are called as mechanical waves or sound waves.
