Places A and B apart from highway.A car starts from A point and other from B at the same time. If they go in the same direction,they meet in 9 hours and if they go in opposite direction, they meet in 9/7 hours.find their speeds.

Let d be the distance between location-A and location-B.
 
If car travels from A towards B with speed vA and another car travels from B towards A with speed vB, then we have
 
(9/7) vA + (9/7) vB = d  ............................(1)
 
If car travels from A towards B with speed vA and another car travels from B in same direction with speed vB,
 
then we have ,    9 vA  - 9 vB = d  ............................(2)
 
By equating, (1) and (2), we have,  vA + vB = 7 (  vA  -  vB )   or   6 vA  = 8 vB  or  vA  = (4/3)vB    
 
hence the ratio of speeds of cars staring from A and B is 4 : 3
