Bisector BD divides AC in the ratio that equals to the ratio of side AB to side BC. Hence the point D divides AC in the ratio 3:5

Let AD = 3x cm and DC = 5x cm,  hence AC = 8x = 12   or x = 1.5

Hence AD =3x = 4.5 cm  and DC = 5x = 7.5 cm
