I DID NOT UNDERSTOOD THAT ""In actuality, it is the flow of electrons (from the negative terminal of a battery to the positive terminal ) which causes the electric current to be conducted in a circuit. Whereas the direction electric energy is (theoretically) said to be from the positive terminal of the battery towards the negative terminal of the body(SO IT MEANS THAT ELECTRONS FLOW FROM LOWER CONCENTRATION TO HIGHER CONCENTRATION,AND POSITIVE CHARGES FLOW OPPOSITELY (...IF YES?) BUT CONCENTRATION OF ELECTRONS WOULD BE LOWER IN "+"TERMINAL NOT "-"TERMINAL AS CONCENTRATION OF + CHARGES ARE HIGHER IN + TERMINAL ).HOW THIS IS HAPPEN SIMULTANEOUSLY?(WHAT IS THE DIRECTION IN WHICH CURRENT FLOWS?) ..AND IS POSITIVE CHARGES ARE POSITIVELY CHARGED ATOMS OR PROTONS

The direction of flow of electric current has two theories behind it:
  • The conventional flow: When the electric current was discovered by the scientists, electrons were yet to be discovered. This lead to their assumption that electric current is conducted due to the flow of protons from positive terminals to the negative terminal. Later, when the electrons were discovered, the scientists came to know that their earlier assumption was wrong. However, the convention prevailed and we still assume that the electric current flows from the positive terminal to the lower terminal.and this assumption is used for calculation purposes as well.
  • The actual flow of electric current: The actual flow of electric current is due to the flow of electrons from the negative terminal of the battery or power source to its positive terminal.Electrons are negatively charged, and so are attracted to the positive end of a battery and repelled by the negative end. So when the battery is switched ON, they flow from negative to positive.
