when three resistance R1, R2 and R3 are connected in parallel, equivalent resistance Req of this parallel combination is given  by
 
Req = ( R1×R2×R3 ) / ( R1×R2 + R2×R3 + R3×R1 )
 
As shown in figure, given resistance network is parallel combination of 4Ω, 2Ω and 4Ω resistances. 
 
hence equivalent resistance = (4×2×4 )/(8+8+16) = 1Ω
