Solving 3x + 4y =10 and 2x - 2y =2  by elimination method:
Let 3x + 4y =10    ...(1) and
2x - 2y =2   ...(2)

Multiply Equation (2) by 2 to make the coefficients of y equal.

Then we get the equation: 4x – 4y = 4   ... (3)

Add  Equation (1) and (2) to eliminate y, because the coefficients of y are the same.

So, we get

(3x + 4x) + (4y – 4y) = 10 + 4

7x = 14

x = 2

Substituting this value of x in (1), we get

3x + 4y =10
3(2) + 4y =10
4y = 4
y = 1
