A and B, each has a certain amount (in ₹). If A gives ₹40 to B, both will have equal amounts. If B

gives ₹110 to A, A will have 4 times the amount left with B. What is the initial amount with B?

Expert Answer:

### Let A has money = Rs.x ; Let B has money = Rs. y ;
If A gives Rs.40 to B , then both have equal money ;
Hence we get, ( x-40 ) = ( y+40 ) or x - y = 80 ...................... (1)
If B gives Rs.110 to A , Then ( x+110) = 4 ( y-110)
hence we get x - 4y = -550 .......................(2)
By solving eqn.(1) and eqn.(2) , we get x = Rs.290 and y = Rs.210
hence A has Rs.290 and B has Rs.210
