CBSE Class 10 Answered
One says, "Give me a hundred, friend! I shall then become twice as rich as you." The other replies, "If you give me ten, I shall be six times as rich as you." Tell me what is the amount of their (respective) capital?

Let the first person has 'x' amount of capital and the second person has 'y' amount of capital.
As per the first person, we have
x + 100 = 2y
x - 2y = -100 ... (i)
As per the second person, we have
y + 10 = 6x
6x - y = 10 ... (ii)
Solving (i) and (ii)
12x - 2y = 20
11x = 120
x = 120/11 = 10.90909...
Therefore, y = 610/11 = 55.4545...
