ICSE Class 10 Answered

A force of 100 N acts on an object of mass 10 kg for 9 sec. If the object was initially moving with the speed of 10m/s, calculate the initial and final kinetic energy of the object. By what factor does the kinetic energy increase

acceleration = Force/mass = 100/10 = 10 m/s2

if u is initial speed and v is final speed  after t seconds due to acceleration a, then we have   "  v = u+at  "

hence final speed   v = 10+10×9 = 100 m/s

Initial kineteic energy = (1/2)m×u2 = (1/2)×10×10×10 = 500 J
Final kinetic energy = 91/2)m×v2 = (1/2)×10×100×100 = 50,000J

change in kinetic energy is factor of 100
