Expert Answer
19. Complete digestion takes place in small intestine as it finally absorbs the nutrients. The end products of digestion are amino acids, fatty acids, glycerol and glucose. For example, proteins are digested by proteases into amino acids, fats are digested by lipids into fatty acids and glycerol and carbohydrates are digested by starch and this in turn broken down to maltose by salivary amylase and then maltose is broken down by maltase into glucose.
20. The inner surface of small intestine has tiny finger-like projections called villi. Due to the presence of villi, the absorbing surface area of small intestine increases and the large surface area of small intestine helps in the rapid absorption of digested food. This digested food which is absorbed through the walls of the small intestine goes into our blood which distributes to every cells of the body for obtaining energy.
