Expert Answer:

Dear Student,
Mushrooms belong to the Kingdom Fungi. This can be identified with the help of certain typical features of Basidiomycetes or club fungi-
1. Formation of basidiocarp or fruiting bodies.
2. Each mature basidiocarp consists of two parts- upper umbrella shaped cap, and a lower stalk like stipe.
Diatoms fall under the category of Kingdom Protista. These possess certain typical features for their identification-
1. They occur as phytoplanktons both in fresh and marine waters.
2. The siliceous cell walls of diatoms are indestructible, i.e. they do not decay easily.

We hope that clarifies your query.
