Where does the electricity absorbed by resistor goes?

You are right, resistor in most cases helps us in regulating the amount of current that is flowing through a circuit. It does so by converting the excess electrical energy into heat energy and dissipating that into atmosphere. There are electrical heaters which use this property to heat up the room.
