Expert Answer:

The loss of water from the aerial parts of the plant in the form of vapour is called transpiration.

It helps in absorption and upward movement of water and minerals dissolved in it from roots to the leaves. Transpiration pull is especially important at night.

It also helps in temperature regulation.
