Reason (R): Closing of stomata helps to conserve water as a large amount of water evaporates from the leaves.

Solution: Stomata are tiny pores on the underside of leaves that allow for gas exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide and water vapour release. Most of the plants close their stomata at night. Closing of stomata helps to conserve water as a large amount of water evaporates from the leaves through transpiration.
