Spiral valves are present in the lower part of the intestine of the sharks. It is a modification of the ileum which is preesent in human beings too. It is twisted like structure for greater area for digestion and increased nutrient absorption. The food gets very much absorbed; so they feed less allowing them to feed on small fishes.
