Dear Student
A reaction involving a substance that produces two different forms of the substance, one more oxidized and the other more reduced than the original.
The disproportionation of hydrogen peroxide into water and oxygen catalysed by either potassium iodide or the enzyme catalase:
2H2O2 → 2H2O + O2
Cannizzaro reaction is also example of disproportionation reaction.
We hope that clarifies your query.
