CBSE Class 10 Answered
Two identical resistors each of resistance 10 ohm are connected in (1)series and (2)in parallel,in turn to a battery of 10 V. calculate the ratio of power consumed in the combination of resistors in the two cases.

Expert Answer
(1) In series, the equivalent resistance is 10+10=20 ohm
Power = V2/R = 100/20 = 5 W
(2) In parallel, the equivalent resistance is (10x10)/(10+10) = 5 ohm
Power = V2/R = 100/5 = 20 W
Required power = 5:20 = 1:4
