Respiratory pigment is essential to quickly transport the respiratory gases to the required destinations. Haemoglobin is the respiratory pigment present in the blood of humans. It has great affinity for oxygen and binds strongly with it, forming oxyhemoglobin. It helps to transport oxygen from lungs to every tissue of the body. It also transports CO2 from tissues to lungs to some extent.
