To get a resisitance of 4 ohm ; the resistances 3 ohm and 6 ohm should be connected in paralled ( the resultant resisitance in parallel will be 2 ohm ). This combination should then be connected in series the 2 ohm resistance.

To get a resistance of 1 ohm ; all the three resistances i.e. 2ohm, 3 ohm and 6 ohm should be connected in parallel.

1 / Rp = 1 / R1 + 1 / R2 + 1 / R3

1/2 + 1/3 + 1/6  = 1/1

resultant resistance = I ohm
