The given linear equations are
2x - 9y = 9 ... (i)  and  5x + 2y = 27 ... (ii)
From (ii), we have
x equals fraction numerator 27 minus 2 y over denominator 5 end fraction S u b s t i t u t i n g space x space i n space left parenthesis i right parenthesis rightwards double arrow 2 open parentheses fraction numerator 27 minus 2 y over denominator 5 end fraction close parentheses minus 9 y equals 9 rightwards double arrow 54 minus 4 y minus 45 y equals 45 rightwards double arrow negative 49 y equals 45 minus 54 equals negative 9 rightwards double arrow y equals 9 over 49 rightwards double arrow x equals fraction numerator 27 minus 2 open parentheses begin display style 9 over 49 end style close parentheses over denominator 5 end fraction equals 261 over 49
