Let v be the image-to-lens distance and u be the image-to-object distance;
magnification = v/u = 2 ; hence v = 2u ;
lens formula:- (1/v)-(1/u) = 1/f
hence (1/2u)-(1/u) = 1/25; solving for u, we get u = -12.5 cm
hence the object is to be placed at a distance 12.5 cm in front of the lens
