Organisms have evolved specialised characters to support their living and enable them to survive in the complex food web and prevent them from predators. One such example is Calotropis. Calotropis plant also known as milkweed produces a chemical compound called cardiac glycoside that affects the mammalian heart. It is the defence mechanism in Calotropis plant to keep cattle away from it. This is the reason cattle and goats do not feed or browse on this plant.
