please tell me what is hyperbola and parabola

A parabola is the path of a moving point whose distance from a fixed point (focus)remains equal to its distance from a fixed line (directrix).
A hyperbola is the set of points such that the difference of the distance of any of these points  from two fixed points (called foci) always remains the same .
