A lending library has a fixed charge for the first three days and an additional charge for each day there after. Neeru paid Rs. 21 for a book kept for five days . Write a linear equation which satisfies this data. Draw trhe graph for the same.

Expert Answer

No. of days left = 5 - 3 = 2 days

Amount paid for a book = Rs 21

There is additional charges for each day

Let the fixed charge be x and the additional charges for each day be y

The charges for first 3 days is x

After which the charges for rest of the 2 days is 2y

∴  Required linear equation which satisfies the data is 

x + 2y = 21
